Evolving on guns

As I have been thinking about gun rights in America, I see that we have grown out of many of the needs for arms. Today, instead of the majority of the population needing guns to secure food, we have turned them on each other. I know of no other species that is so bent on destroying its members.

Guns used for controlled sports such as trap shooting, hunting or farm protection from unwanted animal predators still have a purpose today. But let us consider the use of an AR-15. What purpose does it have to defend mankind from anything? It does nothing but tear people to shreds and promote mass killing. To have one for some identity reason is a false notion. We need to get AR-15s out of the public's hands.

In doing this, we are not going down the slippery slope of taking all guns away, but it would stop unnecessary brutal killings of humans and animals. We need to take a look at ourselves as we claim we have evolved. Is fearing the other to the extent that we need an AR-15 to eliminate them evolution of humanity in the right direction?

Support those congressmen and women who are for banning assault rifles. Let us show the world we have evolved into decency.
