Take action to help fight deforestation
I'm a student at the University of Illinois trying to raise awareness on deforestation and focused on making Cargill one of the largest contributors to take action to end their deforestation efforts sooner. They have failed to meet their goal of eliminating deforestation caused by them by 2020 and not much has been done to show that they can meet their next goal.
The long-term effects of deforestation will not only affect wildlife but every living being on the planet. With fewer trees able to absorb carbon dioxide, greenhouse gasses will continue to play a part in increasing the Earth's climate warming. According to The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, "deforestation is the second-leading cause of climate change."
The best way to combat deforestation of to donate and support deforestation conservation groups, and if you have some spare change, donate to some nonprofit organizations that plant trees. Conservation is important to save future generations and the best way to do that is to be informed and take action if possible.
