Vote trusted experience for District 214 board

I have been privileged to serve with Northwest Suburban High School District 214 board candidates Millie Palmer, Lenny Walker and Mark Hineman. Their passion, vision and dedication to the students, staff and community has been commendable.

This election, the incumbents are joined by Andrea Rauch - a parent, volunteer and scientist. Andrea has been attending board meetings, and like Millie, Lenny and Mark, she listens and does her homework. If elected, she will make an excellent addition to the board.

The district created an extensive return-to-school plan last August. The plan considered the health, safety and well-being of all students, staff and the community. It was based on safe return to school guidelines and the law.The plan has had students and staff safely in district schools since August.

In November, students who wanted to return to in-person instruction were allowed to do so. In January, more students elected to join them, and on April 5 all students will be encouraged to return to full in-person learning in compliance with CDC guidelines, including a remote option.

All of us have had a difficult and unpredictable year but District 214 has responded well.

Millie, Lenny and Mark have helped make District 214 a "Lighthouse District." More importantly, they have a clear vision of what District 214 should look like post-pandemic. It's a vision shared by Andrea.

The District has great strengths, which is why I moved here. However, there is always room for improvement. I support Millie, Lenny, Mark and Andrea's pledge to increase communication, make all students college and career ready and work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
