What is our image when we reject people in need?

There are folks at our southern border trying to escape violence and poverty in their countries by immigrating into the United States. We also have immigrants, both legal and illegal, already in our country.

These are the folks that take jobs in our slaughterhouses to put meat on our tables or work in the fields and orchards harvesting the fruits and vegetables we eat.

A segment of our citizenry is trying to prevent the folks at our southern border from entering our country. If this labor force dries up, our diets will consist of corn muffins, oatmeal, Cream of Wheat and Bran Flakes.

The immigrants at our southern border aren't rapists, drug dealers and murderers as we have been told to believe.

But they are a necessary part of this country's workforce.

I have often wondered what people in countries populated by Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims and Jews think when they watch a supposedly Christian country turn its back on the poorest of the poor and ignore the teachings of Christ.
