It's not Trump who is divisive

In the past few days while reading the comments/letters in the "Your Views" section of the Daily Herald. the comments regarding what happened in Washington, D.C., have been truly enlightening.

What happened was unacceptable and frustrating. The bigger picture here is people are so frustrated and unsure of their future due to the "pandemic" that the slightest attack on what they hold dear brings it to a boil (70 million strong).

I have listened to the large media sources and the letters of complaint now and find the hypocrisy amazing. The other day while on "YouTube" I watched video of just four years ago of "democracy" in action. The way D.C., actually the whole nation. was up in arms when Donald Trump won the presidency. They burned squad cars, broke windows, yelled "not my president," in general started an "insurrection" of the electoral process.

In fact there was a cry for an end to the electoral college, the only system that makes it possible for every vote to count. At that time, not one elected legislative individual stated or was quoted as saying this was wrong, as far as I had heard. It was the same during the looting and burning during the BLM movement, hurting a cause that a lot of people believed in.

Today I listened to a media group rationalize the difference between the looting and burning during the BLM demonstrations as acceptable due to the circumstances of the demonstration. I guess it is true in their eyes, as if "two wrongs do make/equal a right."

The media and others in the legislature are the divisive ones, not Trump. Are the American people nothing but "lemmings" or are they supposed to be free thinking, not children, able to think for themselves and should be asked better, would you want your children to act in this manner when they don't get their way?
