Dictating safety

Why is Gov. Pritzker continuing to dictate who can work (essential workers) and who cannot work (non essential workers)? When COVID hit, we were told that he had authority to declare a 30-day emergency. But in a continuing bait-and-switch pattern, he dictates that I and others are not essential. The recent election showed that with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), employees are able to work safely. The Cook County clerk provided election workers with masks, gloves, face shields, sanitizer and wipes for the touch screens. That in an environment with a record number of voters.

The role of Illinois ought to be ensuring that all employers provide sufficient PPE. That keeps the marketplace competitive and allows all desire to go to work. The Illinois Constitution proclaims we are entitled to equal protection of the law, but Pritzker is defeating that with his political choices of who can work and who cannot.
