Electoral College worked then, but not now

The Electoral College has nothing to do with preventing tyrants. Impeachment and the 25th Amendment prevents tyrants, we hope.

The Electoral College was supposed to select a president in the confusion of several candidates running for president.

Back in 1780, neither African-Americans nor women could vote. The strong two-party party system we have has existed only since World War 1.

Eight percent of the population lived in rural America in 1780 and states like Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Vermont were not as populated. It was a good idea back then.

In 2020 the Electoral College is out of date and must disappear. Rhode Island has more people than three states in an area the size of Cook County.

Times have changed.

Get rid of the Electoral College, now.
