President's failures should be obvious to all

"But President Trump has failed to provide the leadership to try to heal that discord. Instead, he has brazenly attempted to exploit it. He has made and continues to make, it worse, a lot worse. The role of Trump's scorched-earth style in this should be obvious, even to those who embrace his policies."

The 56 words above contain four that should be capitalized and shouted to the country: "This should be obvious." Who are the voters to whom this is not obvious?

There are the selfish voters, who started out very rich in 2017 and got richer. Even during the pandemic, when millions of their fellow Americans are suffering economically, the divide widens.

There are the stupid voters. They believe every lie Trump, his administration and right wing media feed them, because that is so much easier than critical thinking and searching for the truth.

Possibly the largest group of Trump voters who deny the obvious are the haters. To them, the discord is music to their ears. The racists, the xenophobes, the homophobes, the misogynists, the white supremacists, even those who hate Democrats and liberals, all feed on Trump's divisive rhetoric and actions.

Let us hope that the majority of Americans go to the polls in record numbers to reject the selfishness, stupidity and hatred of Trump voters.
