Mail voting not needed
Much is being said about President Trump suggesting the election date of Nov. 3be extended if we are going to a mass mailing of ballots because of the pandemic. His concerns are fraud and a major delay in knowing the results.
Actually, there is no need to change the date. People can go to voting locations to cast their votes just as safely as they are now shopping, going to church or work. Wear a mask, keep social distance and wash and disinfect hands.
There should be no mass mailing of ballots. I agree with Trump, the mass mailing will encourage fraud and delay results. As in past elections, people with health or other reasons had to request a mail-in ballot and they could be checked on the voting register before receiving a ballot. If we go to a mass mailing of ballots, we can look forward to many "recounts" and could possibly end up in the courts.
