NIMBYs behind moving iron works to South Side

On June 25 the Chicago Tribune reported that Gov. Pritzker's IEPA granted the troubled but clout-heavy General Ironworks permission to move its operations from tony Lincoln Park to a blue collar Latino neighborhood on the Southeast Side of Chicago.

This is an obvious and despicable case of environmental injustice and racism.

Lincoln Park folks have the leisure and money to loudly scream, "Not in my neighborhood."

The denizens of the Southeast Side are too busy scraping together a living in this pandemic to fund and organize opposition to a business that fouls the air, increases local hospitalizations and will additionally pollute the Calumet River. Mayor, please show the mettle and decency to prevent General Iron from moving to this location.
