Trump has created cult following

Four Daily Herald opinion page letters on a single day were from male Trump Republicans whining about some injustice or another that "liberals" are inflicting upon them.

I was dumbfounded reading how one gentleman never knew the base he trained at was named after a Confederate leader but was incensed that someone would change the name; one suggested that his Lord and Savior is working through our current president yet I doubt most people's Jesus would lock up kids in cages or suggest that our elders should die for the sake of our stock market portfolio; one thinks their civil liberties are being trampled on because they have been asked to protect others during the pandemic; and one believes that OANN and EWTN news organizations provide unbiased coverage of our political process.

I am at a loss on how to explain their logic.

The Trump Republican Party has become a cult that wishes to indoctrinate people to their views.

Power and stoking division are their goals, not enhancing the well-being of American citizens.

The American people are starting to see through their rhetoric and are standing up for the principles on which our country was founded. It is time to heal and unite our nation, not continue to sow division.
