Union honors

In response to the letter submitted by Wiley W. Edmondson, Ulysses S. Grant rose to the rank of General of the Army, which is awarded four stars, not five. Also, there was a Fort Sheridan, right here in Illinois, just north of Chicago. Many of the buildings are still there, although it has become a private residence development and is no longer in use by the military.
