I read with distaste your article informing Illinoisans that "disgraced and unrepentant" former Gov. Rod Blagojevich is slated to host a podcast for WLS Radio. Prior to the pandemic, public trust in government was near historic lows. Now that we are facing a grave public health and economic threat, we need honest, effective leadership dedicated to the public good more than ever.
Illinois consistently ranks high on various corruption studies and bears the joke title, "The State Where our Governors Make Our License Plates." I found it bad enough that Blagojevich's sentence was commuted by President Trump, but I am deeply disturbed by a decision to elevate him to a position in which he will "analyze politics and government."
Nearly every issue we face is caught in the grip of corruption. RepresentUs is a cross partisan, grass-roots anti-corruption group. As a DuPage County RepresentUs chapter leader, I will be boycotting such a podcast and will encourage my contacts, members and other RepresentUs chapters to do the same.
