Tax delay a win-win for all

Suburban small business owners and homeowners are struggling under the economic stress caused by COVID-19.

Kane County Treasurer Dave Rickert's proposal to delay spring property tax collection until Sept. 1 is a welcome plan for real-time relief.

Delaying property taxes will relieve financial pressure as we navigate the maze of state and federal aid options. And whichever options we pursue, they all take time to apply for and receive. This plan provides immediate relief without requiring any red tape. That is a win-win for everyone in my book.

I urge you to contact your county board members and local legislators and ask them to support this plan. Stay strong and don't give up hope.
