Democrats caused shameful delay in aid

A deal was reached on the coronavirus rescue package March 25. Good news indeed. Why did it take at least five days to get here? Remember: there is a coronavirus pandemic.

The previous Saturday, a rescue package, on a bipartisan basis, was reached and ready for vote. So far so good. At the last moment, the Schumer/Pelosi consortium stepped in. That's bad. True to "Never let a good crisis go to waste" Schumer proposed adding additional benefits, such as funding wind and solar energy, emission standards for the airplanes, special concessions to big labor, minimum wage to $15, expansion of Obamacare and more.

These items, though worthy by themselves, have nothing to do with the coronavirus. These add-ons were a despicable and unforgivable political ploy to use the coronavirus crisis to achieve goals that the Democrats could not achieve via legitimate legislative action.

Two national leaders, Schumer of the Senate and Pelosi of the House, whose first obligation is to serve the American people, abandoned and failed their obligation miserably. When the rescue package was needed immediately, Schumer's shameful wrangling caused a five-day delay.

The good news is that a deal has been reached. The desperately needed money to fight the virus and to fight the impending economic disaster will soon be released.

The Democrats and their mainstream medica collaborators are now spinning the agreement as a victory. (Nice try to cover for the unconscionable delay). That's a hard sell when the rescue package is virtually the same as originally agreed to by the bipartisan committee. What a price to pay for one person's malignant ego trip. There will always be bad actors, such as Schumer/Pelosi. Still there is a silver lining: The bad guys lost; we, the American people, won.
