'Fair Maps' needed

Illinois has a wonderful opportunity to change how legislative maps are drawn. It will take a little work on our part to encourage our legislators to do the right thing and support the Fair Maps Amendment. If our legislators support a Fair Map amendment on the ballot, this will allow voters to weigh in on how our legislative maps are drawn.

The amendment, if passed, will change the Illinois Constitution so legislative maps are drawn by an independent commission. The commission will consist of 17 commissioners; seven Republicans, seven Democrats and three Independents.

Other states have successfully used commissions to draw their legislative maps. This is an amendment that Illinois deserves. Please call your legislator to ask them to support the Fair Maps amendment. Let's give Illinois a chance.
