New light is not answer

In order to accommodate a company to be named later a new stoplight has been placed on Hicks Road just south of the tracks in Palatine. So, now there are four lights in an area of Hicks slightly longer than a football field, and the light at Northrup-Grumman makes five.

The most recent light, added at Helen, is so close to the existing light that drivers with poor vision and short attention spans are sure to be confused. I've been driving for nearly 50 years and cannot recall seeing two lights so close in proximity. As a frequent traveler of this route, I hope the coordinated timing of lights does not require five stops to travel a quarter-mile and cross the tracks headed north.

Throwing money and engineering at a problem is once again the problem not the solution.
