Why do Republicans keep covering?

For the life of me, I can't understand why true Republicans want to be represented by this man, and why they keep covering for him.

Surely keeping the Senate, ensuring the Supreme Court is conservative, overturning Roe v. Wade, building a border wall, lowering taxes ... none of that is worth what this man is doing to this country, both at home and abroad, just to satisfy his ego.

It will take years to undo the damage he has done. I disagree with most of Mike Pence's politics, but he would at least represent the country with more dignity than the current occupant, which is precisely why he will probably be cast aside for a new running mate in the 2020 election.

Trump exhorted the crowd at his rally in Michigan on Wednesday night to, "Pray for me." I think a better prayer would be that we survive this presidency.
