Regarding dictators
Most dictators, like Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, and others, started their career with the motto of "The free press is the enemy of the people." Then they gained control of the country's judicial and law enforcement departments and went after opponents. They marginalized a racial or religious minority group.
As the last step to gain complete control, they started a war.
Another common trait is a narcissistic personality disorder characterized by the traits of persistent grandiosity, an excessive need for admiration and a personal disdain and lack of empathy for other people.
