County must upgrade election equipment

The seven DuPage local League of Women Voters organizations - Aurora Area, Downers Grove-Woodridge-Lisle, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Roselle-Bloomingdale and Wheaton - encourage all DuPage County Board members to vote in support of adequate election funding in the 2020 County Budget.

Years of neglect have left DuPage County with outdated election equipment, which, in some cases, is no longer even supported by the manufacturer. Some of our election equipment is second hand, bought at a discount from other counties that chose to update to modern election systems.

This is not a partisan issue; The League encourages all registered voters to vote. Predictions are for record high voter turnout in 2020. Some are already calling it the election of the century. DuPage County needs to be ready for its voters.

The DuPage County Board must approve adequate funding for elections in the 2020 county budget.
