Finish work on immigration

Immigration and the wall remain a political hot potato and will require patience and time spent by intelligent leadership to resolve. These people at the border risk their lives, pay unscrupulous costs for transport and wait in long lines for a long time just in the hope of getting into our country. That reveals the desperation they have to escape the corruption and crime in their own homeland. This also reminds us of how fortunate we are to be citizens in this country despite all its flaws.

These people are not illegal immigrants but for a better term people who enter this country illegally. Stories of crowded camps, families broken up and children alone, inadequate facilities and squalor have to reach every heart. Rather than angry tweets, arguments and politics, it is time to work on a law that is fair and then to notify the world that it will be enforced.

Next step will be to revise our over-generous welfare system. Only actions like these can stem the flow of asylum-seekers. The resources of this nation cannot handle such a flood of people at one time.

Ours is a generous nation, but North America is no longer a huge tract of land to be developed. Times have changed and immigration laws also have to be changed and controlled as well.

Angry people have a hard time compromising and working together. Many voters in this country demand generous immigration and many do not. Despite a lot of dead wood in congress, let's hope that enough of them trust that the voting majority will favor their decision and vote accordingly. Whatever slim chance there is of this happening soon is questionable but It is time for us to start the engines and get rolling.
