Selective offense

I'm truly sad at the way correctness is arbitrarily viewed. Gov. Pritzker had Confederate Railroad dropped from performing at the DuQuoin State Fair due to their name and use of a Confederate flag. Some people must have been offended.

Now, as a private promoter has rebooked the band at another venue, people are still up in arms over their name and emblem. The Daily Herald used the headline "A step backwards in race relations?" surrounding this new controversy about the 32-year-old band's name.

The sad part is this over-concern about this band's name while other bands with names so offensive they couldn't even be published in the newspaper all book performances with little or no controversy. Goodness, even the Dead Kennedys do concerts in Boston.

So, what are we going to do? Clean up everything that someone finds offensive or just let the offended learn to deal with their discomfort while they stay away from Confederate Railroad?
