'Gun violence' is misleading term

In the interest of accurate reporting, I and thousands of other readers would like to see the inaccurate media term "gun violence" cease to be used by all media.

Here is my point:

When Lincoln was killed, we blamed the shooter, John Wilkes Booth - not the gun.

When JFK was killed, we blamed the shooter, Lee Harvey Oswald - not the gun.

When Bobby Kennedy was killed, we blamed the shooter, Sirhan Sirhan - not the gun.

When MLK was killed, we blamed the shooter, James Earl Ray - not the gun

When Reagan was shot, we blamed the shooter, John Hinckley - not the gun.

In the war zone called the South Side of Chicago, where most of the people are shot, Police Chief Johnson says 90% of the shootings are gang-related. So why does the media call it "gun violence"? Are Colts, Glocks amd Smith & Wessons autonomous vehicles that somehow cruise the streets and randomly shoot people with no human involvement?

Please begin your coverage of shootings by stating "some person or persons shot." If you want to be really honest and accurate, you might begin with "Suspected gang violence is thought to be responsible for the shooting of ….
