Lawmakers acting in interests of chosen few

I am very disappointed in our legislators. Madigan once again has bullied the legislators into voting for a budget over 1,500 pages long with no time to figure out what is in it. Pritzker has laughingly called it a balanced budget without taking into consideration our unfunded retirement commitments.

When are they going to get the courage to stop this madness? They voted to increase our income tax rate, doubled the gas tax, increased the license plate fee and raised the parking taxes.

Not anywhere in there did I see a proposal to cut spending. Illinois does not have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem. To add insult to injury, they then voted to give teachers back their possible 6 percent increase per year to bump up their retirement package.

How about letting the citizens vote on changing the overly generous retirement packages for teachers and government employees. They are not solving the problems of the state they are just kicking the can down the road.

Their actions will add to the mass exodus from Illinois. What are they going to do when there is no one left to tax? Please legislators, start acting for the benefit of all of your constituents not just a chosen few.
