An abortion irony

After finishing reading the June 1 Daily Herald newspaper, two articles struck me. The first was the one about the passage of the abortion rights bill in Springfield. The second was the one about a man accused of drowning his cat.

On the surface the two have nothing in common but I was struck by the celebratory tone of the passage of the abortion bill and the condemnation of the accused cat killer.

Here in Illinois taxpayer money is used to pay for abortions, a procedure that kills an unborn baby. Here in Illinois, taxpayer money is used to prosecute a person accused of killing a cat.

I have come to the conclusion that here in Illinois, a cat has more of a right to life than an unborn baby. What do you think?
