Smith, Weidenfeld for Buffalo Grove village board

Buffalo Grove residents have a difficult decision in the April municipal election. Nine people are running for three trustee positions on our village board. Here's who will receive my vote: Eric Smith and David Weidenfeld.

I first met Eric Smith 25 years ago as a fellow parent, team coach and neighbor. Soon, I came to know Eric as a local business owner and involved community member. He has served Buffalo Grove in many capacities, from the Appearance Commission in the early 90s to chairman of the Plan Commission and now as a village trustee.

As a fair, honest and deep thinker, he earned the trust of several village presidents and boards. Eric's service also includes decadeslong membership in the Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce, both of which he served as president. For these compelling facts, Eric Smith has earned my respect and my vote.

David Weidenfeld and I have served side by side for nearly four years. I have learned that he is a strong, analytical thinker who communicates well with residents, staff and fellow elected officials. Dave has tackled difficult issues during his tenure on the board, showing respect for residents by putting in the hours and effort needed to create compromises that respect everyone's concerns.

Dave's willingness to work with others is crucial to keeping the village board harmonious even in the most disagreeable of times. This is why Dave has secured my vote.

Eric and Dave will continue the powerful work currently in progress. I believe they bring experience and knowledge that no other candidate can match, thus ensuring Buffalo Grove residents continuity of service at the highest level. For these reasons, Eric Smith and Dave Weidenfeld have garnered my support and my vote.
