Remember that love is the answer

On Martin Luther King Jr Day, my wife and I put out our Valentine's Cupids Arrow light. We started doing this last year as a symbol of not just love between two people, but love between all people, shooting love into the world because hate and division between many has spread more darkness than it needs to be.

Hate is not why we're here. It's not our purpose. Martin Luther King Jr. didn't just preach about hate and injustice and equality for all. He also preached that love is a great power. Love can turn an enemy into a friend.

Valentine's Day is a symbol of love which is a great commandment of life. As the Lord had said, "Love one another as you love yourselves."

Love serves. It heals. It strengthens families and nations. It even stops wars and divisions. So whom we may dislike, whether it's the president or other leaders, or even those in your community, hate will not find a single answer, but love will.

If history teaches us anything. Hate has done more damage to the human soul than anything else. It's caused personal pain and agony. It is why with Valentine's Day just past, let us remember that love is very well present.

Dr. King says hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that. Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that.

So let light and love for our fellow man, our president, our neighbors, our communities and especially within our families be the greatest endeavor we can contribute.

For when we can make peace a reality, hope a never ending feeling. We can find that love was the answer to them.

For God first loved us, therefore we can love, too.
