Thank you for first responders' work during vortex

Now that the polar vortex is gone, I thought it would be a great time to recognize all of our first responders, charitable organizations, shelters and anyone who chose to go the extra mile to help others during this time of year also including neighbors checking on the elderly.

With the Midwest hitting deep subzero temperatures, this was the time where all of us could take a break from our day-to-day lives. However, some of us couldn't do so. All of the first responders and organizations still had to show up at their designated stations to be of assistance to those who needed it or ran into any complications this past week.

This includes employees of hospitals, fire departments, police stations, charitable organizations, shelters and many more.

On behalf of the Chicago area, I would like to say thank you for all who not only sacrifice themselves every day but also on days where the rest of us in the community stayed comfortable in our home's majority of this time.

We appreciate you and hope you were taken care of as well. Thanks for helping us and thanks for being our heroes this winter.
