Wheeling Township residents come through all year long

Wheeling Township's motto is "Neighbors Helping Neighbors," and I am once again both inspired and awestruck by the amazing generosity of our residents and friends.

I want to take a moment to thank the many residents, community groups, churches and businesses who took the time to donate and support our Thanksgiving Basket and Christmas Adopt a Family programs.

Both programs were an outstanding success again this year, due entirely to those of you in the community who responded to our request for donated food and gifts.

Many of you also volunteered your time to help us bring these programs to fruition. We couldn't do what we do without your help. Thank you.

I think it's equally important to thank the hundreds of residents and businesses who unfailingly support the Wheeling Township Food Pantry throughout the year. Our neighbors need food the rest of the year as well, and your donations, whether large or small, are gratefully received and appreciated by all those who are in need.

Every day, hundreds of unsung Wheeling Township heroes bring caring and compassion to our neighbors in need. Many of them will never be formally recognized, but I, for one, know that Wheeling Township would be a darker place in which to live without them.

Thank you for helping us fulfill our mission on a daily basis.
