Folly to rename expressway

The proposal to rename the Dan Ryan Expressway is ridiculous. The Ryan is part of Chicago's heritage. Locals and visitors have known the name for over a half century. To change the name would erase part of Chicago's history. If we rename the Ryan after Barack Obama, then we might as well rename State Street Dick Durbin Drive and Michigan Avenue Emmanuel Way. Renaming the Dan Ryan would be the beginning of the end of Chicago's glorious history.
