Why do this project?

In a Nov. 15 article, Russell Lissau discusses the purchase by the village of Mundelein of some properties on the west side of Route 45 at Allanson Road. While the article appears to be correct, it doesn't mention some issues.

Mundelein has a pretty good parks department, the Mundelein Parks and Recreation Department. If this is such a good thing for the village, why is the village doing it and not the Parks Department? I saw another article some time ago where someone said people on their daily commute will have a clear view of Diamond Lake among other reasons for the project.

The village is more concerned with projects like this than they are with infrastructure issues such as those that involve sewer issues that cause flooding in homes after heavy rains. Many of these issues have been a problem for years. The village administrator and others have said repairs will be made, presumably starting next year. How do they prioritize projects and why do they do what they are doing?

I have talked to many residents who decry the decline in property values - many by 50 percent or more. I have also had dealings with the village where they refused to enforce their own ordinances. All of this while taxes keep rising.
