The cancer among us

You would think that after the death of millions to defeat the Nazis and the death of hundreds of thousands of our own citizens to abolish slavery, people would have learned that this is clearly not the way forward for any society.

Yet, on Election Day in the Illinois Congressional 3rd District, a self-proclaimed neo-Nazi, white supremacist and holocaust denier, running as a Republican, received 57,000 votes of the 217,000 cast. That's roughly 25 percent. How shameful is this? What were these 57,000 voters thinking?

Cancer of the mind and heart is the real threat to our society. It's not the Republicans, Democrats or immigrants. It's not even the neo-Nazi's or white supremacists, it's the mind and heart of those who vote for them. This is where the cancer lies.
