Let's get behind the Hanover Park Park District tax hike

I want to address your recommendation to vote no on the Hanover Park Park District referendum.

As a citizen, I'm supporting the referendum and plan to vote yes! I urge voters to say yes so we can have good quality parks and recreational facilities, such as swimming pools, a fitness center, and athletic fields.

The tax increase will allow the district to make improvements to 21 different facilities and buildings.

Then Hanover Park residents can enjoy quality recreational opportunities in our community instead of having to drive elsewhere for good playgrounds, fields and picnic areas or pay nonresident fees to use neighboring park district facilities and programs.

This is the first tax increase in more than 50 years, and it is a modest amount that will do an immense amount of good. I daresay it will save families money in the long run by saving on gas and nonresident fees.

We urge a yes vote Nov. 6 for the future of our community.
