Responsible roads
I read with interest Tax Watchdog Jake Griffin's article titled "40 road districts take more." It brings to light some excessive township road costs, particularly in Cook County.
I would simply like to point out that here in Milton Township (Wheaton and Glen Ellyn), our road district cares for 80 centerline miles of road for roughly $28,270 per mile (based on last four fiscal years' average real estate tax receipts). A far cry from the $105,609 per mile reported for Leyden Township, Cook County.
While this may not be sensational enough to make the front page, it is good information to know.
