Endorsements: Cantore, Painter for DuPage forest preserve positions

DuPage Forest Preserve

Chairman: The race for president of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County features two candidates who know the district from different perspectives: Republican incumbent Joseph Cantore and Democratic challenger Daniel Hebreard. Cantore, of Oak Brook, is seeking his second term as president. Hebreard, of Woodridge, is a senior ranger for the district seeking his first elected office. Hebreard raises legitimate questions about the district's allocation of resources, but Cantore can point to a track record of getting things done in a district known for acquiring and maintaining its preserves at a high level. Cantore is endorsed.

District 3: Republican incumbent Linda Painter has served her constituents well in the forest preserve's Third District in southern DuPage. Challenger Irfan Ibrahim is emerging as an effective activist with a bright political future. Painter's experience gives her the edge. Painter is endorsed.
