Endorsement: Daily Herald endorses Stolman over Kim for Lake County treasurer

Lake Co. treasurer: Stolman

Republican Lake County Treasurer David Stolman and Democrat challenger Holly Kim, a former Mundelein village trustee, are competing for treasurer in the Nov. 4 election.

 

Kim argues that new requirements for oversight of country funds should be added in the wake of recent revelations that board Chairman Aaron Lawlor repeatedly used a county-issued credit card to make personal purchases.

But we think Stolman's done a good job with the credit-card episode and appreciate how much he has increased transparency in the handling of county funds. He has demonstrated his understanding of the treasurer's office as "the county's bank." We endorse Stolman.
