Endorsement: The Daily Herald recommends Connelly over Ellman for Illinois Senate District 21

Voters in the 21st state Senate District will choose between Republican incumbent Michael Connelly and Democratic challenger Laura Ellman, both from Naperville.

While Ellman has an impressive resume and serves on the Naperville Fair Housing Commission, Connelly's experience is hard to beat.

Connelly has occupied this Senate seat since 2012. He is a former state representative in the 48th District and a former Lisle Village Board member. During his time in Springfield, he has passed 77 bipartisan bills that have become law, and he has solid relationships with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. We're impressed with his ideas to move the state forward. Because of this, we endorse Connolly.
