Anti-corruption bill deserves support

America craves action. We want meaningful action that brightens the lives of the American people. They certainly deserve it after all of the investigations, corruption and spirit of pessimism radiating outward from Washington, D.C.

We know that there are a slew of unworthy bills piling up in the halls of Congress. They want to get rid of the Environmental Protection Agency, pull funding from Planned Parenthood and leave the American people in the lurch by destroying health care protections for those with pre-existing conditions. In such a vibrant economy, it does not make sense to decrease investments in these programs. This is the time where we must strengthen and fine tune those programs to make them effective and accessible for the American people.

Therefore, when a powerful piece of legislation enters the Capitol, I feel obligated to come out and vocalize my support for it. I am proud to support the Anti-Corruption and Public Integrity Act. Introduced on August 21 by Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, this bill would provide accountability and fairness to the political process.

I would support it regardless of the sponsor or party. The bill would force presidential and vice presidential candidates to disclose eight years' worth of tax returns and places their personal assets in a blind trust so that our public servants would not be involved in conflicts of interest that run contrary to the interests and desires of the American people.

Both parties are responsible for the high level of corruption in Washington, D.C. The Anti-Corruption and Public Integrity Act would be a bold step in the right direction for our beautiful country. Please join me in supporting this honorable piece of legislation. Call your senators, congressmen and call President Donald Trump. America's brightest days lie ahead of us.
