Development is bad for Naperville

I attended two Naperville Planning and Zoning Commission meeting about the proposed Naperville Polo Club development with my major concern being the Book Road extension. This extension will run through the Riverview Farmstead Preserve, which is home to more than 500 plant species and wild animals including the big brown bat, osprey, Bell's vireo and dickcissels. Many of these flora and fauna will be destroyed with the construction of a road through their home. After attending the meeting, I realized that in addition to these concerns, the development itself is extremely problematic.

There seemed to be a lack of concern from the D.R. Horton developers for their Naperville and Plainfield neighbors. When presented with the many issues, they talked big but made very few changes. There is just simply a lack of space for a dense project of this size.

The many apartments, townhouses and houses will be crammed onto a very small area. Despite this tiny piece of land, this development will create more traffic than High Meadow South Pointe combined. All this to an already overcrowded area. Then, there is the dangerous cut-thru traffic these communities will have to endure. That presents major safety issues.

I'm sure this developer will tell the council what they want to hear, but only a fool would trust them. With all the obvious problems, there is no way this development should be approved or even considered. The misinformation, lack of knowledge and complete lack of concern for their neighbors by this developer is astounding. Naperville is one of the best places in America to live. Please help keep it that way.
