Uninformed generalization

On Monday, Aug. 6, Randy Rossi says he finally had a debate with a liberal and notes that this one per-son was unaware of a number of facts about immigration status in the U.S., including how many we accept per year, the percentage who receive welfare and who are in jail. He goes on to say how much money per year illegal immigrants cost our health care system and his conclusion based on his one and only conversation with a "liberal" is "how uninformed so many liberals are."

This is woefully uninformed on the writer's part. He makes a blanket generalization of all liberals based on a conversation with one, only one. This is stereotyping. The lead into his letter says, "People won't listen to facts on immigration." It should be "This one liberal won't listen to the facts on immigration."

Don't paint all from one group, political party, ethnicity, race etc. with one stroke from the same brush. This is the essence of bigotry.
