Get over politics of fear, divisiveness

An open letter to Ronna McDaniel,

Republican National Committee:

I am a former primary classroom schoolteacher. Being a senior citizen, I have more time to try to keep up with the state of our federal and local governments. The past two or more years of following campaigns and our current administration have been the most difficult and chaotic that I can remember. I'm sorry to say, but each day brings a new shock wave tweeted from our president. As a longtime registered Republican, gone Independent, I feel that many once-venerable Republicans are being led over a cliff by the Pied Piper of all time, Donald Trump.

The letter I just received (pertaining to the Republican Affiliation Confirmation Card) has agitated me further. When the country needs a calming and hopeful voice that speaks of issues in the context of working across the aisles, this letter focuses on divisiveness. It speaks of "the most aggressive attacks on our Party in memory. The Democrats' campaign of vicious personal attacks, insults, fabrications and accusations is unprecedented." If anyone has been watching, the hypocrisy of these statements is laughable.

I certainly do not hate Republicans. Nor should Republicans be led to hate Democrats. Or the mainstream media. The letter states "We CANNOT let them win." Have you really thought who the "THEM" is? They are your neighbors, friends or even family. I hope the Republican Party can rethink and refocus on their current negative tone.

Donald Trump has found that his con-artist strategy works. I only hope that there are enough Americans of both parties to straighten our national path to keep it from going over a cliff or falling into the dark rabbit hole of fear and divisiveness.
