Collection for troops went well beyond expectations

Recently our group, Help USA Troops, organized a collection and packing drive to send care packages to deployed troops.

Our Northwest suburban community of helpers included Scout groups, church groups, vet groups, businesses and more.

The outpouring of support for the troops was nothing short of incredible! More than 500 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and more than 10,500 pounds of comfort and care items were donated!

More than 225 volunteers showed up for our two-day pack and ship event at AMVETS Post 66 in Wheeling.

We had hoped on shipping 700 boxes at best but wound up shipping 950. We have already started receiving pictures and notes from deployed troops which we have posted on our Facebook page.

This community is truly amazing. Thanks for supporting our troops.
