It's time we adopt common-sense gun laws

There have been eight school shootings in the U.S. in 2018 and the year is less than two months old.

The old worn out saying that "Guns don't kill, people do." just doesn't cut it.

Yes, people do the killing and the method of choice is with a gun. How many people do you think one person armed with a knife could kill in a minute or two? How many of the mass murderers would have even dared try?

Most of the time mass murder is accomplished with an automatic assault rifle which has no other purpose than to kill a lot of people in a short amount of time.

When a mentally unstable teenager can walk into a gun store and buy an an assault rifle with no questions asked, we have a serious problem.

I highly respect the Constitution and have even read it a few times. If the Constitution had been perfect, amendments would have been unnecessary. I respect the Second Amendment, but the authors weren't infallible and could never have imagined the world as it is today or the weapons available.

Almost everything in our lives is regulated to a certain extent for our safety. It's time for common sense gun laws that don't take away our right to own and use them, but do protect us from senseless killings.
