Cities can't pick and choose laws to obey

I have a lot of trouble understanding why establishing sanctuary cities is a good idea. We have laws in this country that elected officials have placed on the books. These laws should be either enforced or removed from the books. Citizens should not have the right to pick and choose which laws they will obey.

The establishment of sanctuary cities in effect says do not follow immigration laws. Allow the law breakers to stay in the country. The mayors of so-called sanctuary cities are telling citizens it is OK not to follow a law if you don't like it.

That is not the message mayors should be sending to the populace. Maybe these mayors of sanctuary cities should be arrested by the U.S. Marshall's Office for aiding and abetting law breakers and for encouraging more people to break the law. If these mayors spent some time in jail, they might change their minds.

We are a nation of laws. The laws should be enforced as long as they are laws. If you don't like them, get your elected officials to change them.
