Trustee sets tone of divisiveness

Thank you for featuring the story on Tracy Ellis in the Herald Oct. 4. Had this been the first time Ms. Ellis had said or published something controversial I, and many, would scratch our heads and call it a senior moment.

But the facts are, it isn't. After attending many U-46 school board meetings over the past 10 years, this isn't a unique occasion. To the contrary, there are few meetings where she doesn't say or write something controversial. It seems as if she needs to constantly be the center of attraction.

No matter what has been discussed, if you disagree with her, or have a different opinion, she will consider you a racist and likely call you one, either at the meeting or on her Facebook. If you live outside her sphere of influence, i.e. Elgin and the unions which support U-46, you are considered good for one thing, paying the bills.

The example she is setting for children in the district is divisive. It simply is not helpful to create this atmosphere of hostility. There is certainly much to do and accomplish in U-46, but all for the students,

not for political points.
