Fuel Tech announces new contracts, injection system

WARRENVILLE - Fuel Tech Inc. said it has been awarded multiple air pollution control contracts from customers in Europe and the U.S. with an aggregate value of about $3.6 million.

In addition, the company announced operation of its new Fuel Chem Targeted In-Furnace Injection (TIFI) system has begun at a coal-fired unit in the western United States.

Fuel Tech's advanced engineering solutions optimize combustion systems, emissions control and water treatment in utility and industrial applications.

An order was received for three Ultra systems to be installed on natural gas-fired package boilers that generate steam at a food and beverage processing facility on the West Coast. Another contract was received in Europe for Fuel Tech's Advanced NO x OUT non-catalytic reduction technology for an industrial waste-fired energy unit.

Deliveries are expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2022, with final deliveries in the first quarter of 2023, the company said.

"High natural gas prices and increases in energy demand are potential drivers to increase the power-production profile of coal units, and our TIFI technology can provide customers with the flexibility to fire more economical fuels while mitigating the impact of the higher associated slagging and fouling characteristics," said Vincent J. Arnone, Fuel Tech president and CEO.
