Goya Foods completes expansion of Illinois facility

BOLINGBROOK - Goya Foods will celebrate the expansion of its nearly 300,000-square-foot Illinois facility with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event Wednesday, June 15.

Bob Unanue, president and CEO of Goya Foods; Peter Unanue, Goya executive vice president; and Mary Alexander-Basta, mayor of Bolingbrook, will attend the event at the plant, 1401 Remington Blvd. in Bolingbrook.

Goya has been operating in Illinois for over half a century. The expansion project was done during a time of high inflation rates when supply chain concerns have impacted the way people acquire everyday goods and food. This project, in addition to Goya's expansion of 26 facilities throughout the U.S., Caribbean and Europe, directly confronts the current global food crisis and ensures more people have access to affordable, nutritious, and plant-based products, the company said.

In honor of the opening, Goya said it will donate 20,000 pounds of food to the Illinois Migrant Council and $20,000 to the Salt and Light Coalition as part of Goya Cares, a global initiative to eliminate child trafficking both domestically and internationally. Goya is America's largest Hispanic-owned food company.
