Shaw named to American College of Bankruptcy board

The American College of Bankruptcy has named Chicago attorney and Highland Park native Brian Shaw to its board of regents.

Shaw is a member of Cozen O'Connor's Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring practice.

The ACB Board of Regents is responsible for the nomination and selection of qualified candidates to fellowship in the college. Shaw, a longtime fellow of ACB, will serve as one of 15 board of regents members, representing the Seventh Circuit for a three-year term.

Shaw focuses his practice on financial restructuring, bankruptcy and other in- and out-of-court distressed solutions, along with attendant litigation, representing debtors, creditors and other parties in proceedings throughout the country. He has guided Chapter 11 debtors, Chapter 7 and 11 trustees, creditors' and noteholders' committees, assignees, landlords, liquidating trustees, labor organizations, preference and fraudulent conveyance defendants, receivers and secured and unsecured creditors through all aspects of bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring.

Shaw has served as president of the American Bankruptcy Institute and has also chaired the Chicago Bar Association's Bankruptcy and Reorganization Section.

He received his law degree from the University Of Illinois College Of Law and his undergraduate degree from Tufts University.
