Waubonsee Community College president to retire

SUGAR GROVE - Christine Sobek, president of Waubonsee Community College, informed the board of trustees this week of her intent to retire at the end of the calendar year.

"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as president for 21 years," Sobek wrote in an email to employees and students. "We have an amazing board of trustees, students, employees and community. I am so appreciative of the support, commitment and dedication I have experienced firsthand throughout all these years."

Sobek will submit her formal letter of retirement to the board for approval at the April board meeting, which will be held on April 20. At that time, the board of trustees will begin discussing the presidential transition plans.
