Elgin's State Street Market Shops celebrating 40 years March 19-20

State Street Market Shops in Elgin is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a “Top 40 Celebration” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 19, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 20. There will be door prizes, music, and treats.

The antique, gift, and collectibles shop at 701 N. State St. is marking 40 years in business this March.

Located in a historic 1929 millworks building, the charm of its squeaky wood floors, long and interesting aisles, and friendly customer service has made them a favorite for both locals and out-of-town visitors.

Manager Sally Farmer has been associated with State Street since its inception. Farmer says, “We are so fortunate to have had such loyal customers through the years and to see second and third generations of families come through our doors.”

Voted one of the “Best Antique Shops “ in the Daily Herald 2018 Readers Choice Awards, they have 10,000 square feet of one-floor shopping, featuring more than 35 shops under one roof.

The shops offer a diverse selection of merchandise; including antiques, collectibles, primitives, florals, home decor, pop culture, furniture, jewelry, handicrafts, specialty items, gifts, and more. They also offer their own full service jewelry store, the Golden Chain. It is one-floor shopping, with handicap accessible wide aisles, a large off street parking lot with plenty of space.

Regular store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, with evening hours until 8 p.m. on Thursday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
